Stellar Formations

This is why I love stumbleupon, because of the stellar material you can find, or 'stumbleupon.' Just recently I found a website entirely composed of oceanic based art (love) ... mind ... BLOWN crochet coral reef

My work focuses on oceanic material, from coral reefs, radiolarians, sea urchins to the creatures that inhabit our waters. I find the ocean to be an amazing place to gather inspiration from. Also it possesses a mystic, considering the exploration of the ocean has literally just begun, as in, there is so much more to study and discover!

Sand Sculptures - Motoi Yamamoto

These are sand sculptures by Motoi Yamamoto ( yes, a maze composed entirely of salt). Simply stunning. Since I am an admirer of detailed imagery, I couldn't resist posting some images of his work.

Lithography

Me graining the stone with 80 grit. In order for the stone to be process ready for a design, it must be grained down with carborundum to 180-220 for optimal results.

Rosining and Taulking the stone (which acts as a protection to the image) before I etch.

This motion is called 'tightwiping' the stone, to ensure that the Rosin and Taulk are fully covering the surface of the stone before applying the etch.

With the wash already applied and stabilized to the stone (first etch) I am preparing to do my second etch, so that I can print (an hour later)

Applying Gum Arabic with etch (acid) to the stone.

Studio 561

I was apart of an exhibition that took place at Studio 561 at Bloor and Bathurst, August 7th through to the 17th. There was 10 artists, including myself, along them were friends of mine, Leah Ataide, Flora Shum and Elizabeth Ortolan.

What my wall of the exhibition looked like. I had a booth set up with various limited edition digital prints. Along with two paintings from a series entitled 'Wisdom' and a dry point etching.

Some people who came to the show, I actually had a really in depth discussion with the gentleman in the center. Overall, a great night.

Back logged

I was asked to part take in the Steam Roller Printing Festival which took place at OCAD University on October 22 (see how behind I am... sigh) But to make this short, it was an amazing experience which I was so thankful to be a part of.
